In this new world, everyone is talking about changing, changing and changing. That’s what the new
Learning, it seems a word that I always “do” in stead of thinking its implicit meanings. In the lecture, I tried to think of meanings of “learning”. “Widen horizons, develop skills, experience, and add values to myself” are something that I wrote down. It’s funny to hear something like “from zero to one”; it’s really simple but very “instructive”. We should thank Louis for sharing this funny idea.
In the past, people always did routine works like following a list of rules or steps, etc. They were not willing to change their old ideas until they came to difficulties or obstacles. But now, people tend to change. People aware of being open-minded towards changing can help them to improve their behavior and to overcome their stubborn habits. They’re willing to accept new ideas or even think of innovation. That’s why learning facilitates changing. Or on the other hand, changing facilitates learning at the same time.
To survive in this competitive edge, not only individuals like you and me, corporate or business enterprises are also learned to change. Here is an example about Asian Television Ltd. (ATV). After a recent change in internal shareholding, ATV tries to stir up a keen competition with her direct competitor, Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB). Starting from tomorrow night, the ATV Late News broadcast time period would change from
We can see ATV is changing. ATV tries to build up its new image or impression to audiences and it tries to catch up with the audiences’ flavor. Changing traditional habits of audience is what ATV does this time; it’s innovative to change as to outstand from its old shadow which was being passive against TVB. Who knows this change would do anything on ATV audience rating? A surprise? No change? Or even a worse case? Actually we still don’t get an answer but at least we know ATV learns to change.
Entering the realm of transformation and renewal, do you want to be passive or active to learn and change? Absolutely you should be the active one; otherwise you will be fall behind the pace of this dynamic world. And, “You must learn from your past mistakes, but not lean on your past successes.” (Denis Waitley)

In my side, if there are no change in ATV, it must be died in the television market. As ATV always supported by China, it affects the image of ATV in HongKong, it is difficult to change itself, so this change in Late News broadcast time is a good change for the first step. Hope ATV can keep going on.
ReplyDeleteOther than schedule change, I think ATV needs to reposition its program strategy. Should they produce their own series, instead buying programs off the shelf? The images of ATV stars... why are they not perceived as professional or reputatble as those in TVB?
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, many people only repeat the routine works in the past instead of keep on learning and changing, thus there is not much improvements. It's pleased to see that more and more people or organizations wish to gain more and learn more knowledge, hence more innovative products are appeared day by day.
